Overview:
My fascination with album artwork began with my earliest encounters with music. I was often drawn to an album solely because of its cover—compelled to listen even if I knew nothing about the genre. In many ways, graphic design and music share a common language. As both a designer and musician, I approach visual composition with the same mindset I bring to music: crafting a narrative that resonates and tells a meaningful story.
Objective:
While we’re told not to judge a book by its cover, the reality is that a compelling cover invites curiosity. The same holds true for music. An effective album cover invites listeners into the world of the music—guiding perception, building intrigue, and offering a glimpse into the artist’s creative identity.
Methodology:
The process always begins with conversation—connecting with the musicians to understand their music, personalities, and intentions. What story are they trying to tell? Is the album a personal expression, a commercial release, or something in between? These insights inform every creative decision.
Based on the narrative and tone, I select the most suitable medium—be it photography, illustration, or 3D—to bring their story to life. Each design is crafted to be visually unique and artistically valuable, with the potential to be appreciated as a standalone piece—something collectors might want to hang on their walls. At the same time, the artwork is designed to be versatile, ensuring it translates seamlessly across formats and platforms, from vinyl sleeves to streaming thumbnails, print materials to digital campaigns.
