Words of wisdom
Overview:
Metta Bhavana is a social entrepreneurship initiative founded by Rodolphe Sinimale in La Réunion (French island located in the Indian Ocean). Rodolphe and I first met 10 years ago on the island. In 2018, after sharing our extended traveling experiences, he asked me to work on one of his upcoming project. I designed the campaign for this inspirational retreat, driven by our common knowledge of the island.
Objective:
The goal of this campaign was to attract the leaders of tomorrow to participate in a silent retreat, exploring and experimenting with its benefits first-hand for three days. According to Rodolphe, the keys to success for a company lie in a set of three interdependent qualities: visionary leaders, enthusiastic employees, and a culture of curiosity and openness.
Methodology:
Leadership and silence are not necessarily two words that are usually associated. In a world where everybody is connected, it can be difficult to separate ourselves from the constant flux of information that we are receiving, and therefore even more difficult to find time to ease the mind. The challenge was to translate the benefits of this retreat into a campaign that would resonate with the younger generation. My approach was to find common trends between this demographic and the content of the program, and highlight them throughout the document. First, the medium couldn’t be limited to a flyer, so I made a short video teaser to promote the event. Then, I based the rest of the communication on social media and the mailing list. Lastly, I designed a brochure that was available in both digital and print. For the visual elements, I chose to focus on nature (local landscapes), pictures of people in peaceful poses, and illustrations influenced by keywords (wisdom, meditation, well-being, etc), connecting science, wisdom and innovation.
